At least 92 people have been killed and hundreds more left trapped and injured after an earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Wednesday.
Heavy machinery is being used to rescue people from collapsed homes after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit north Sumatra at 5am local time.
The death toll rose to 92 on Wednesday afternoon after more bodies were recovered from the rubble, according to Aceh military commander Major General Tatang Sulaiman.
In addition to the 92 killed, about 300 were injured with about 73 seriously injured.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 33 kilometres at 5.03am local time (9.03am AEST) on Wednesday. It struck 130km southeast of Banda Aceh in northern Sumatra, the United States Geological Survey says.
